(??/0ngoing/) P90's and guitar stuff pt1
hi . this is very much a not finished post because if you’re not Lame your guitar should never be finished. i hate boys with expensive guitars that they’ve never done more than changed the strings of.. i love having a tactile object to mark and decorate and damage and fix and the things about guitars is you can actually glue them back together when they break. it’s awesome. i am bored of seeing your brand new thousand dollar jazzmaster that looks the same as like ten other dudebro guitarists’. lame!!! ok. yay. my first guitar is stratish, i got it for 200 dollars (plus a guitar amp) when i was a kid and i’ve had it for like ten years. the guitarist in my high school band offered to mod a kill switch into it because we were really into rage against the machine and i was like fuck yeah awesome yes please. it was only when i opened it up years later that i saw the violent, not routed, very clearly gouged out with a variety of tools mess of a hole he had made for the wires. the kill switch works great tho. im definitely not using it for tom morello beep boop annoying stuff but i think it’s just really nice to quickly shut up all sound when someone is talking in practice. at a certain point last year I realised that the pickups on my incredibly cheap ten+ year old guitar were completely rusted and that maybe that was why my guitar sounds like shit. I got a lace sensor to put in the stratish neck, because that was my favourite position out of the rusty pickups. it is a middle position pickup (lace red i think) but it sounds good where it is and that is joyous i think.
Life changing discovery of mine is that the chinese import 20 dollar p90 pickups you can buy online rip. they are awesome. as fuck. turns out they’re all just magnets. and they scream. any volume and anything but the lowest gain and they feedback so beautifully and it’s Delightful. Great for lame loser shoegaze(booo) rockchicks. i put the neck in my stratish and the bridge in my mustang. i did the mustang in an actual workshop, hence the lack of very obvious drill holes in place of routing damage that you see on the stratish. fucking up a pickguard in your bedroom and vacuuming up the scraps from the carpet is cool actually.
