Pink sony walkman my love... My first ever technology was a litlle red mp3 player, quite sweet and tiny, I can't find any exact images of the one I had but I remember the storage being pretty terrible and the interface being exclusively buttons. I loved it a lot because of course and it lasted me years. Eventually time and the progress of technology meant that my parents had apple music on their Smart Phones which was pretty cool because it meant I got to replace my old mp3 with my dad's sony walkman (awesome) which had playlisting and a screen and bass boosting and voice memo recording and it was pink r u kidding me. My mothers mistake was telling me this the day before i was actually allowed to have it and not clarifying that this was so she could get all of my dads music collection off of it before i got my hands on it. overly excited about it I woke up at four in the morning the next day and wiped the entire thing, not really understanding that deleting files meant they were gone forever. My mother found out and explained to me that they were more than just files, they were a collection of often niche and obscure music that had been ammased over years and meant a lot to my father, who would might never be able to remember them all again. She laid it on a little thick i think(fair), and i had at this point discovered both a sense of empathy and also how much music could mean to a person and consumed by guilt I spent the next few hours crying over the terrible thing I had done.
